Behind The Scenes – Our Story

Samantha and Nicola Chapman grew up surrounded by makeup. Their aunt was a top makeup designer in London, working with clients like David Bowie and Princess Diana. Their mum was makeup-involved too, always trying out the latest trends and being creative with her looks. As young girls, they experimented on one another, and undoubtedly Nic was the test subject matter, since Sam was the older sister.

When it emerged time for you to choose their career path, it was clear that makeup artistry was the way to go. These were talented, creative, and keen to follow in the footsteps of their successful aunt. But, most – these were interested in beauty significantly. After two years of attending school for professional makeup artistry, Sam moved to London to focus on counters and begin her career as a freelance artist.

She got the opportunity to work with the likes of MAC, Estee Lauder, and Chanel doing from fashion weeks, to editorial. Nic behind had not been far, following a similar path, but in her own right. As time passes, they both acquired built a reputation in the industry as respected makeup performers. In 2008, Sam uploaded her first video to a website called YouTube.

She was pregnant at the time and had relocated to her hometown of Norwich to improve her daughter’s and concentrate on her new career as a mother. When a close friend asked ways to get a smoky eye, the first Pixiwoo video was created. There is no hype around YouTube at that right time, but immediately, people began to find Sam’s video and request more everywhere. Soon, Sam and Nic started to collaborate, and the Pixiwoo channel began to remove. The girls were the perfect team, each getting different things to the desk. Sam would use her knowledge to recreate runway appears, and Nic could have fun concentrating on the latest superstar look.

They were able to pioneer a fresh platform of makeup artistry… without even recognizing that they were on the cusp. This year 2010, when the Pixiwoo channel experienced reached around 30,000 subscribers, the basic idea behind Real Techniques started to formulate. One of the most crucial things behind makeup artistry is using the right tools, and for many women, they’re not sure where to start quite.

The majority have become up using triangle wedges, eye applicators, powder puffs, and even their fingers to apply makeup. Given that YouTube was coming alive in an effort to learn the pro secrets, brushes seemed like the perfect fit. Plus, social media now makes it easier than to hear precisely what women are looking for ever and to create products that are customized just for them. In 2011, the Real Techniques brush collection was launched. Unbelievable clean quality was paired with a professional, interesting, fun education from Sam and Nic. The launch day was memorable, as women from around the world started pouring to the website to learn more about this new brand.

Fairly quickly, a worldwide community of women who enjoyed makeup began to create. Not merely do they have a solid connection to Sam & Nic, but they also connect to one another – piping in on social media to answer questions and give input. Today, the brand has taken off in America, UK, and around the world. Sam and Nic continue to grow as top makeup artists, writing columns for national newspapers and magazines, appearing on major network TV as beauty experts, and editing their own digital magazine. Through Real Techniques, women everywhere are transforming their makeup routines and themselves, with the approachable knowledge, friendship, and tools from Sam & Nic.

Secondly, men used to organize the function. You may already know, men always try to generate their own flavor. I came directly into help, because my husband (the late Eric Morley) wanted me to get involved. But as a woman, it appeared to me that it would be waste materials to have such an enormous platform with no constructive thought put into it. Not everyone in those times experienced the material to look good.
